We’re celebrating the International Day of the Girl by taking a moment to appreciate the leadership, vision, and bravery of the women and girls we’re privileged to learn with through film. Enjoy our 2017 International Day of the Girl playlist above for additional interviews and behind-the-scenes clips.
We celebrate the leadership, artistry and advocacy work of women and girls on and off screen. The Media, Diversity and Social Change Initiative at USC recently found that only 31.4% of 4,000 speaking characters performed across the 100 top‐grossing films in 2015 were female. Just over 7% of all produced films were directed by woman. These numbers has not significantly changed in nearly 10 years.
Inspire the girls in your classroom and community to pursue their passions across the fields of science, technology, arts, engineering and math by engaging our interdisciplinary lesson plans.
