Professional
Development Workshops for teachers
Tired of that "read the
book, then show the movie" approach to film in the classroom? Ready to try
something original? Interdisciplinary? Creative?
Journeys in
Film
workshops use dynamic trainers, engaging foreign-language films and interactive
hands-on activities to inspire parents, teachers, school administrators and
community members to use this innovative program, ultimately capturing the
imagination and curiosity of your students.
Use the films and our
lesson plans in science, math, social studies, language arts, media literacy,
leadership / conflict resolution and the arts to bring teachers from many
disciplines together to explore culture, to extend their knowledge of the
world's youth, and perhaps even to hold a film festival in your own school.
Journeys in
Film brings the
world into the classroom!
Workshops can also be
designed for after-school programmers and school counselors as well as
administrators committed to increasing parental involvement in the school.
Your school can co-host
a workshop, bringing together participants from your local area educational
institutions, public and independent. This often creates an environment for
more engaging dialogue, while splitting the cost of the workshop with other
schools.
Journeys
in
Film
offers introductory sessions (1.5 hours), half-day (3 - 4 hours) and full-day
workshop (6-8 hours) options. Consider using Title II Professional Development
dollars to bring this program to your school. (click here for more ideas for
